 CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

 - COMPOSITION: Balanced and stabilized mixture of peroxygen compounds, surfactant, organic acid and inorganic buffer system.
 - APPEARANCE: Pink/gray powder (yellow/orange in the USA). ODOR: lemon scented.
 - EFFECT: Strong oxidizer.
 - STABILITY: Powder: It loses only 2.3% of its effect on average after 36 months at 20°C, 1% solution: 10% of its effect after 7 days in 350ppm hard water.
 - SOLUBILITY: It dissolves easily in warm water and forms a clear pink solution (yellow in the USA).
 - ABRASION FEATURE: When used as specified on the label, it does not have any abrasive effect on non-hard or stainless steel surfaces.
 - HYDROGEN ION CONCENTRATION: 1% solution - pH2.6.

 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
 - Ecotoxicity: Classified as 'non-oxic' by EU standard for soil toxicity, has lower aquatic toxicity than peracetic acid and will have no adverse effects on wastewater facilities when used as labeled Water Research Council UK.
 - Environmental impact: "In normally used dilutions, all of the Virkon® S content is decomposed and/or biodegradable and is relatively harmless. The ternary salt of potassium monopersulfate will decompose into harmless by-products. In the aqueous environment, the product will eventually decompose and pose no problem to wastewater plants.
